HABIT 2-BEGIN WITH THE END IN MIND
Life Lesson Hook-Video 2
After watching the clip from Alice in Wonderland, ask students what the clip was talking about. Ask the students if it is important to know where you are going in order to get to where you want to go.
Beginning with the end in mind means PLANNING. Put the following slide on the screen and read THIS out loud or have students read it out loud.
Talk with the students about what it would be like if they tried to build a house, today, with no training. Elicit details with questions like-
Do you think the walls would stay up?
Do you think the roof would leak?
Would you be able to have running water?
Really get them thinking about what it would be like to try and build a house with no training.
Now ask students what it would be like to look for a job with no training, no planning, and no guidance.
Now talk to them about building a career, having the end in sight. Ask them what they are doing right now to prepare for a career. (THIS CLASS, WORKING, TALKING TO COUNSELORS OR PARENTS)
Read the next SLIDE.
What does it mean to get a career by default? What is a default?
Read the definition of DEFAULT.
Ask the students-What does it mean to get a job by default?
Break students into small groups of 2-3 and ask them to each make a list of potential jobs they have considered as a career. Each student will need to share at least one job with the class.Follow us on Social Media!
