ACTIVITY- Stereotype Party
Prepare a set of “name tags” with descriptors, Skater, Prep, Rich Kid, Emo, Goth, Jock, and Nerd. Place a name tag on each participant’s back. Participants can see the name tags of others but not their own. Participants must try to guess the character type placed on their back by asking yes/no questions, such as “Am I in good shape?” or “Am I well-educated?” Participants move on to another person after each question. Discuss with participants how they decided what questions to ask and how they answered each other’s questions. For example, if “cyclist” asks “Am I overweight?” how would you answer?

After playing the stereotype party game, talk to the students about their prejudices. Explain to them that they will work with all kinds of people when they are on the job and they will need to figure out ways to work with people who are different than they are. Working with others in a positive way is synergy.

Read from Page 190 ROADBLOCKS TO CELEBRATING DIFFERENCES to the end of the poem on page 192. Talk about the poem.
